Pootler Design Team - Bookcase Builder Week 3

Awwwww! I am so sad that it's the final week of the Pootle's Design team for Feb, but I have had so much fun being a part of it, and I really hope to be part of another one in the future.

So my final project is dedicated to all my friends who have little babies. I decided to make it for a baby boy as most of my projects are quite feminine and I really enjoyed taking this one in a different direction. I didn't even use blue to represent the masculinity, I used a green-y colour (who says boys and girls are determined by pink and blue) Bermuda Bay to be exact.

I love the colour combination and the simplicity of it. The basic black really pops against the Bermuda Bay and I love how the stripy background gives the project extra oomph.

I used a fair few dimensional's with this project (who doesn't love dimensional's??) to really give the project..... well....... dimension hah! I didn't just use it on the main picture too, I stamped the sentiment twice. Once on Whisper White and once on Bermuda Bay, after which I cut out the "memories" and "moments" text and elevated them to really make the sentiment stand out as I think it is super duper adorable.

I also liked limiting myself to using just Bermuda Bay ink. To get the gradient of colour under the cutsie little teddy bears and alphabet blocks I simply dabbed ink onto my stamp and stamped three times moving across the paper slightly each time to create the effect. (I used the wishy washy stamp from the perpetual birthday stamp set :))

Well I absolutely loved using this stamp set. I must admit I had my fears about using it when I first realised which one we would be showcasing and I was trying to think how I could use it without showcasing the obvious before it even arrived. But once I received it and I started playing around with all the different stamps the ideas just kept flowing. Even now I'm still playing and coming up with ideas.

I hope you've loved February's design team. I certainly have!

Speak to you soon,
Jessica xoxo
